Right clicking on a link, image or background will open a menu grouping together some commonly used menu options. This saves you having to look in different places for options you may use regularly. These options include saving out images to disc, downloading images if you have turned them off, downloading the file at the other end of the link in the background, and opening the target of a link in a new browser window (allowing you to view multiple pages at once). This can save a lot of time when browsing.
There may be times when you want to see the source HTML for the page - perhaps to edit it. WebsterXL will talk to HTMLEdit or other editors (such as Zap or StrongEd) and can display the source in the editor. To do this, simply go to the page you wish to view, then either click on the view source button on the toolbar, or choose it from the Misc sub-menu on the WebsterXL main browser menu.
WebsterXL will store recently accessed pages and images on disc to speed up viewing. The size and duration of the cache can be set in the WebsterXL choices, but you have more control than this. At any time you can flush the contents of the page and image caches individually via the Flush Caches option on the Misc section of the browser menu. Flushing the caches allows you to get rid of the stored version of pages and re-fetch them from scratch. You may wish to do this if you think a site has changed and WebsterXL is displaying the cached version.
You may find that a particular size of window (for the main browser window) suits your needs best (or at least, better than the default size). This can be particularly true on some frame-based web sites where a large window is helpful. To set the default size of the window, simply re-size it to suit, and choose the Save Window Position option on the Save section of the main browser menu.
HTML pages often contain much more information than that displayed in the main browser window. For example, authors often give contact details and addresses or details of the software they used to create the page. Additionally, WebsterXL stores rendering times and file sizes. To view all this extra information, choose the Show File Info option on the Show section of the main browser menu. (This menu also allows access to the history and hot lists).
